Chopper Spins Out of Control into Palm Trees at Popular Southern California Coast
A helicopter soaring over a crowded California shoreline unexpectedly began spiraling uncontrollably, eventually dropping height and smashing into a cluster of palm fronds as onlookers looked on.
Videos shared on social media show the helicopter starting to spin near the beach then plunging towards the edge of the coast, where it ends up lodged among palm groves and a staircase close to the shoreline route.
Emergency Response Update
Local firefighters stated five individuals were taken to hospital including a pair who were in the aircraft and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” following the accident on Saturday.
Three people on the street were injured. Specifics on their injuries were not immediately available.
What led to the incident was not yet disclosed.
